Democratic Exile Artist Couple Launch Collaborative Exhibition at Los Angeles June 4th Memorial
LOS ANGELES, CA – November 20, 2025
A collaborative art exhibition by democratic exile artist couple Geoffrey Jin and Gloria Wang, titled “Democracy: June 4th Themed Art Exhibition”, will officially open on November 29 and 30 at the Los Angeles June 4th Memorial. The exhibition revisits historical memories through an artistic lens, documenting China’s democratic events and capturing the emotions, human resilience, and the universal desire for freedom, attracting visitors from across the community.
All works on display are co-created by the couple. Forced into exile due to their democratic beliefs, Geoffrey and Gloria turned to art as their primary means of expression—a vehicle for preserving memory and rebuilding life. Through collaborative creation, they infuse each piece with personal experiences, shared hardships, and their steadfast commitment to freedom.
The exhibition centers on the theme of “how memory is preserved and carried forward in the lives of exiles.” Geoffrey and Gloria’s works not only depict historical events but also convey the unique emotional layers of exile: empathy for people in their homeland, dedication to truth, and a deep longing for democratic values.
The Los Angeles June 4th Memorial, a major historical and educational institution in North America, has long been committed to preserving records of these events and promoting public dialogue. This exhibition aims to offer a gentle yet profound form of reflection through art, allowing audiences from diverse backgrounds to find personal understanding and connection within the works.
At the opening ceremony, the artists will share their creative insights, joined by scholars, community leaders, and human rights advocates. Attendees emphasized that art transcends language and culture, transforming the memory of June 4th from a historical event into a continuing influence on contemporary and future values.
The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge on November 29 and 30 at the Los Angeles June 4th Memorial. The museum invites community members, students, and media representatives to explore the stories behind the artworks and reconsider the significance of freedom, dignity, and memory through art.
